Enable IIS 6 Compatibility and MSMQ
- Open the Control Panel and click Programs and Features.
- Under Tasks, click Turn Windows Features on or off.
- Expand Internet Information Services > Web Management Tools.
- Expand IIS 6 Management Compatibility and select IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility.
- Under Web Management Tools, select the following features:
- IIS Management Console
- IIS Management Scripts and Tools
- IIS Management Service
- Expand Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Server > Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Server Core and select the following features:
- MSMQ Active Directory Domain Services Integration
- Multicasting Support
- Under Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Server, select MSMQ DCOM Proxy.
- Click OK.
Verify .NET Framework 2.0
- On the task bar, click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
- Open Add or Remove Programs.
- Scroll down the list of installed program and make sure Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is installed.
- If .NET Framework 2.0 is not installed, see the Microsoft Web site for instructions on how to obtain and install .NET Framework 2.0.
Enable IIS 6 and MSMQ
- On the task bar, click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
- Open Add or Remove Programs.
- Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
- In the Components list, select Internet Information Services (IIS) and Message Queuing.
- Click Next, then click Finish.
Verify Internet Explorer
- On the task bar, click Start > Programs > Internet Explorer.
- If Internet Explorer 7 is not installed, see the Microsoft Web site for instructions on how to obtain and install Internet Explorer 7. Note: Internet Explorer 6 is supported, but it is recommended you install Internet Explorer 7.
Install SQL Server 2005 Express
SQL Server 2005 Express is free from Microsoft.
- Install the Database Services/SQL Server Database Engine.
- Install Management Studio Express (This is optional. It is not required for dopplerVUE, but it does allow you to view and administer the SQL server instance.)
- Select default instance name.
- Install the latest service pack.
Configure SQL Server 2005 Express
- Start SQL Server Management Studio Express (if necessary, install Management Studio Express).
- In the Object Explorer, right-click the SQL Server instance at the top of the tree, for example "mycomputer (SQLServer 9.0.2047)", and then click Properties.
- In the left pane, click Security.
- Under Server Authentication, make sure SQL Server and Windows Authentication is selected. If you change the setting, restart the system if prompted.
Configure SQL Server 2005 Express
- Start SQL Server Management Studio Express (if necessary, install Management Studio Express).
- In the Object Explorer, right-click the SQL Server instance at the top of the tree, for example "mycomputer (SQLServer 9.0.2047)", and then click Properties.
- In the left pane, click Security.
- Under Server Authentication, make sure SQL Server and Windows Authentication is selected. If you change the setting, restart the system if prompted.
Install dopplerVUE System
- Logon to Windows using an administrator account (or an account with administrator privileges).
- Double-click the installation file (setup.exe) you downloaded from www.dopplerVUE.com.
- In the Welcome window, click Next.
- In the License Agreement window, review the license agreement and click Yes.
- In the Setup Type window, select Full and click Next.
- In the Choose Destination Location window, accept the default destination folder or browse to an alternative location, and then click Next.
- In the SQL Server window, select the SQL Server instance to use for the dopplerVUE database and click Next. If there are multiple SQL Server instances on the Windows system, select the instance on which the dopplerVUE database will be installed. Note: Do not select Remote.
- The Setup Status window shows the installation status. This step will take several minutes.
- In the Select a License Option window, do one of the following:
- Select Request a dopplerVUE license and click Next to request a free 30-day license (go to Step 10). Note that the Windows system must have an Internet connection to send the request.
- If an Internet connection is not available, select the Skip Licensing option and click Next (go to Step 13). Note that dopplerVUE will not start without a license file; however, you may request and install a license after the initial installation (see Manually Request a License).
- In the License Request window, complete all fields and click Next. The Installer will email your request; you should receive a license email within minutes. When you receive the license email, download and save the license file (license.dat) to the dopplerVUE server (Windows system).
- In the Select a License Option window, click Next to install the license file.
- In the Open window, browse to and open the license file. Clicking Cancel will return you to the Select a License Option window.
- Optional: In the dopplerVUE Configuration window, enter the IP address ranges for the initial network discovery and the read community strings for any SNMP devices within the specified IP address ranges. Click Next. Note: Specifying a wide range of IP addresses encompassing a large number of devices will increase the time needed to perform the initial discovery.
- Optional: In the second dopplerVUE Configuration window, enter the email configuration for sending email notifications. Click Next. Note that you change the email configuration parameters at any time from the dopplerVUE Client.
- In the Wizard Complete window, click Finish.
- To start dopplerVUE, go to the task bar and click Start > Programs > SYS Technologies > dopplerVUE. Note: If you did not install a license file, dopplerVUE will not start (see Manually Request a License).
- Typically, dopplerVUE will start using the same Windows account used during the installation; however, in some situations you will need to log in to start dopplerVUE. To log in, enter the default username and password, and then click Login.

Manually Request License
- Install dopplerVUE and skip the licensing option as described in "Install dopplerVUE System".
- Browse to c:\Program Files\SYS Technologies\dopplerVUE\Tools.
- Double-click the LicenseRequest file.
- In the Licensing dopplerVUE dialog box, click Next.
- Close the License Request and Licensing dopplerVUE dialog boxes.
- Open dopplerVUE\License\licenserequest text file and note the request code value. You will need this value in Step 8.
- On a computer with Internet access, browse to http://download.dopplervue.com/dopplervue/.
- Complete the request form. In the Request Code field, enter the request code from the licenserequest file (see Step 6). Click Submit. You should receive a license email within minutes.
- When you receive the license email, download and save the license file (license.dat) to the dopplerVUE server (Windows system).
- Start the dopplerVUE Installer (setup.exe).
- In the Licensing Installation? message box, click Yes to install the license file.
- In the Select a License Option window, select Install License and click Next.
- In the Open window, browse to the location of the dopplerVUE license file (license.dat), select the file, and then click Open. The Installer completes the installation and starts the dopplerVUE services.
- In the Wizard Complete window, click Finish.
- To start dopplerVUE, go to the task bar and click Start > Programs > SYS Technologies > dopplerVUE.
- Typically, dopplerVUE will start using the same Windows account used during the installation; however, in some situations you will need to log in to start dopplerVUE. To log in, enter the default username and password, and then click Login. Username: admin

Launch the setup.exe file downloaded in Step 1 and follow the onscreen instructions.
