dVUE1 FAQs

dVUE1: Web Tender
Why is the website so slow?
Is it the LAN? The site? An overworked desktop?
Locate the possible areas of congestion that are affecting external website response.

In one window, dVUE1 collects and displays key network and resource indicators to help identify the areas - or multiple areas - where slowdown is occurring.

dVUE1 Basic

dVUE1 Basic
  • Ping response to an external website.
  • Ping response from the Default Gateway.
  • Delta response between website and gateway pings.
  • HTTP response from the Website.
  • Percentage of local machine bandwidth used.
  • Local machine bandwidth speed.
  • Percentage of local CPU utilization.
dVUE1 PRO

dVUE1 Pro

Everything that dVUE1 Basic provides, plus…
  • Color-change alarming feature
  • Set two thresholds from up to three metrics
  • Flyout window tracks previous performance

Both dVUE1 Basic and PRO show:
  • Ping response to an external website.
Click on Settings in the toolbar to enter the url of your website or another website that you want to monitor. Note: dVUE1 cannot monitor www.dopplerVUE.com. In the past, an exceptionally large number of users were accepting this as the default site for dVUE1 monitoring, putting an inordinate burden on our website provider. You can use multiple instances of dVUE1 to monitor your website without experiencing performance problems. It is only when an exceptionally large number target a limited connection that issues can sometimes develop.

  • Ping response from the Default Gateway.
Identifies whether there’s a problem in the local LAN segment due to traffic from other users.

  • Delta response between website and gateway pings.
Shows whether the latency problem is the result of a slow external connection.

  • HTTP response from the external Website.
Maybe the problem is not the connection, but a slow running website. The HTTP response is gathered by sending an HTTP Request (get, “URL”) to the website being monitored. The response time is calculated as the elapsed time to get the response. The response times may be slower if the size of the homepage is large. This HTTP Request is initiated every 10 seconds.

  • Percentage of local machine bandwidth utilized.
Identifies whether there is a large amount of information being sent or received over the LAN connection, such as file downloads, VoIP calls or streaming video.

  • Local machine bandwidth speed.
Mouse over the bandwidth percentage number to show the speed of your local connection. With slow connections, even a low usage percentage can cause problems.

  • Percentage of local CPU utilization.
Help triangulate whether the problem is simply being caused by the local machine trying to process too many tasks.

  • The silver circle in the upper right corner will briefly flash green when an update to dVUE1 or new dVUEs become available.

dVUE PRO adds:

• dVUE1 PRO’s alarming feature allows users to configure two thresholds - Medium and High - for the gateway ping response, website ping response and HTTP response measurements. If one of these thresholds is exceeded, the label for that element will change colors to alert you that attention may be needed. Crossing the Medium threshold will turn the text yellow; if High is crossed, the text will turn red.
• dVUE PRO allows you to view performance in historical context with a fly-out window including two line charts recapping the previous 25 measurements for each metric. Click on one of the element icons to open the fly-out.

All measurements refresh every 5 seconds.
