Advanced NetOps Support
Network monitoring is all about data. Collecting it, filtering it and displaying it. But network management is about taking action.

Managing means quickly identifying, isolating, fixing and avoiding problems to assure reliable service. The dopplerVUE difference is a focus on converting data into actionable intelligence to support your NetOps, ConOps or business processes.

dopplerVUE
  • Filter alarms on any combination of 29 detail attributes.
  • Filter Windows event log message using any of 24 pre-defined filters, or create your own.
  • Define threshold alarms on any collected performance metric and syslog or Windows event using a single value or a range of values.
  • Base alarms on actual or average threshold values.
  • Control how data is collected and updated by setting discovery schedules and polling/refresh intervals.

  • Unique OpsCenter provides a snapshot of total network health in a single window, including real-time interactive graphics showing:
  • critical alerts by subnet or classification
  • major alerts by subnet or classification
  • average alarm duration
  • total bandwidth in use
  • status readings for your “most watched” devices, interfaces, node or services
  • Doppler effect map of current performance status

When its time to act, apply automated operations including a variety of rules, actions and alert procedures.

  • Use wizards to create NetOps rules for SNMP traps, gathered performance metrics and Windows or syslog events.
  • Define threshold alerts for any collected performance metric, SNMP trap and Windows or syslog event.
  • Apply NetOps rules to one, many or all devices, interfaces, and/or services in any classification.
  • Define multiple actions to trigger automatically based on NetOps rules, including:
  • create or clear alarms
  • send e-mail(s)
  • write to EventLog
  • forward an SNMP trap
  • generate a custom .NET assembly

Topological network views are useful for many diagnostics, but not all.  Sometimes you need to see metrics as they apply to a particular business process, service or mission. dopplerVUE allows you to create specil Groups based upon any logical relationship, such as a map of elements involved in call center operations or interfaces to partner networks.

  • Simply drag and drop devices from the inventory tree to create a Group.
  • Combine devices, interfaces, connections and services in any Group.
  • View Groups on maps, in alarm grids and in drill-down charts that segment the Group’s alarms by severity.
  • Create nested Groups to show almost any type of relationship among the entities, such as processes and sub-processes.

dopplerVUE provides a core of key reports or trend spotting, executive review and historical analysis including:

  • top latencies
  • top bandwidth utilizations
  • top destination and source addresses
  • top protocol source and destination ports
  • top CPU utilizations
  • top alarmed CPUs
  • recently discovered devices
