Keeping Views Current

A network infrastructure is an evolving architecture. The quantity of devices and services that make up a network can change over time. In many cases, these changes are orchestrated by a network management team. But sometimes these changes are unknown and unexpected.

So network inventory lists and views can quickly become out-dated. And out-of-date network views are ineffective tools for network administration.

dopplerVUETo maintain accuracy, dopplerVUE updates all network inventory lists on a regular basis by:

  • Scheduling discovery sweeps to continuously refresh inventory lists without manual intervention.
  • Detecting additional devices via retrieved syslog messages, SNMP Traps, and BOOTP/DHCP requests, then adding them to the inventory.
  • Automatically categorizing new devices in network inventory lists to simplify network administration.

Network visualization elements such as network maps and views are also automatically maintained by dopplerVUE:

  • New network devices are routinely inserted into all dopplerVUE-generated maps to keep network topology accurate.
  • Device and service performance data is automatically collected on all devices, per a pre-set interval, and displayed in network views.
  • Network views continuously refresh with real-time data to precisely show network performance at all times.

And all automated capabilities run continuously in the background, ensuring network inventory and views are current without causing any additional administrative burdens.
