dopplerVUE

Discover the Network

dopplerVUE network management begins with the inventory discovery process at installation and continuously adapts to network changes with:

  • Scheduled and on-demand discovery jobs to update the network inventory list
  • Comprehensive device and services sweeps via multiple discovery protocols: SNMP, ICMP, DNS, FTP, HTTP, STMP/POP3
  • Received syslog and SNMP traps from devices added between discovery jobs.
  • Intercepted DHCP/BOOTP broadcasts from recently added devices.
  • Partial, extended and remote network discovery options
  • Multiple discovery job types based on: IP address ranges, seeded routers, local subnets, and peer dopplerVUE nodes
dopplerVUE

dopplerVUE collects network infrastructure data and uses it to build and update both network inventory lists and network topology views with:

  • Auto-classification of discovered devices, by type, in inventory list views
  • Easily navigable inventory list views in both a hierarchical tree format and a detailed, sorted list
  • Automatically updated inventory lists as devices are discovered
  • Routine revisions to all auto-created network maps using the most recent inventory data

The discovery process, by design, helps other key dopplerVUE processes run more efficiently:

  • Discovery runs in the background, avoiding interference with other dopplerVUE network management processes.
  • Custom resource utilization scale allows network admins to designate the amount of system resources discovery jobs use.
  • Performance polling methods, based on device type, can be set in the discovery job parameters
